Massage may be the oldest form of manual therapy technique. Sports and Remedial Massage refers to systematic manipulation (treatment) of the muscles, relevant to a particular sport or to a particular injury/problem area. For example, a runner can benefit from regular sports massage treatment on the legs, while a lower back pain sufferer can find relief after the lower back and hip areas are treated.
Many therapists focus on the benefits of sports massage on the body (physiological) such as increased flexibility and reduced stiffness to the muscles. Sports massage also affects the mind (psychological), which is often overlooked and may even outweigh the physiological benefits. Massage has been very strongly linked to a person's emotional state of mind which in turn affects a person's physical wellbeing and ultimately, performance. Studies show that injured athletes who get regular massages have increased perceptions of recovery. The athlete feels 'nurtured and taken care of', leading to decreased anxiety and increased readiness to train harder and perform better.
You too can gain the same nurturing benefits by getting regular sports massage treatments. Whether you are injured, have muscle/joint pain or just feeling tired and stressed out, book a treatment with Zamri and enjoy the sense of emotional and physical well being like never before!
